Earning a Private Pilot Certificate requires a considerable amount of flight training and ground school, as well as a significant amount of time studying independently- equivalent to a part-time job! While many young people are excited by the idea of becoming a pilot, many underestimate the work involved or lack the resources to see flight training through to full certification.
The goal of the Green Castle Aero Club Foundation is to remove resource barriers that keep young people from achieving their dream of becoming a pilot. The Bill Kimble Flight Scholarship covers a significant amount of flight training expenses. All that's asked of the student is to commit their time and effort towards the required studying and training.
The Green Castle Aero Club is an ideal place to undertake the sometimes arduous but exciting challenge of learning to fly. We have approximately 100 members with a wide range of aviation experience. While learning to fly, students will meet pilots and enthusiasts in our diverse Green Castle community that will give them a better sense of what's involved to become a certificated pilot. They will also learn about the many careers and opportunities that await them after becoming a pilot. Additionally, we have a number of active Certified Flight Instructors (CFI) who are available to provide formal and informal instruction as well as offer advice or answer any questions you may have about flight training.
You and your family are welcome to visit us at one of our meetings or whenever you are free! We'd love to meet you. Please visit our CONTACT US page for location and contact information, or contact the Scholarship Committee Chair, Dean Beranek directly at (563) 506-2665 or [email protected].
